Hey Noobsters I just ordered a new LED monitor and – although it is cool – it is really hard on my eyes. I may not return it though thanks to a handy free app I found online called “f.lux”.

f.lux calculates how much sunlight (or artificial light) you are receiving at your current location and then adjusts your monitor’s brightness accordingly throughout the day. More here:

‘"During the day, computer screens look good—they’re designed to look like the sun. But, at 9PM, 10PM, or 3AM, you probably shouldn’t be looking at the sun.
F.lux fixes this: it makes the color of your computer’s display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day.
It’s even possible that you’re staying up too late because of your computer. You could use f.lux because it makes you sleep better, or you could just use it just because it makes your computer look better.”

Even if I do return this monitor for another one I plan to use f.lux from now on to adjust monitor brightness according to the time of day. A good idea, a great free app.
